Chronically Homeless are those men, women and families who have been homeless for more than a year. These are not the panhandlers you see on the street. These are our neighbors and friends who are truly down on their luck.
The 1% Campaign is Utah’s answer to funding an end to chronic homelessness. By supporting the revolutionary Housing First model and creating an affordable way for all Utahns to participate, the Campaign makes ending statewide chronic homelessness attainable!
Donate 1% of your Annual Income One-time.
If you make $40,000 a year, donate $400. If you make $80,000, donate $800. Whatever the amount, choose to spread payments monthly, quarterly or annually over one, two or three years – selecting a method that will be easy on your budget.

Housing First Works!
The Housing First model requires residents pay 30% of their income, no matter the amount, for rent. In return, they receive a permanent home and the on-site help to assist them in rebuilding their lives. House managers and counselors are on site, 24 hours a day. Job training and search advice is available. Drug & Alcohol Counseling and self-help resources are provided.
Housing First Saves Taxpayer Dollars!
Several national studies have demonstrated the cost effectiveness of permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless. Housing First costs less than having this population regularly utilizing emergency medical care and public shelters. In Utah alone, a 2009 State study found $3.3 million of savings in the first four years of our Housing First program.
We know Housing First works. Nearly 500 units of successful permanent housing have been built in Salt Lake City so far. Statewide, however, we need an additional 2,500 units. The 1% Campaign can fund this construction, but we need your help.
